The 27th of May was a very special day for all the 2nd Class children in Timahoe N.S as they received their First Holy Communion. The week leading up to this was extremely busy and full of excitement!
We had a beautiful mass said by Fr. Breen in St. Michael's Church, each of the 2nd class students were involved in some way by reading prayers of the faithful, saying readings or presenting gifts/symbols.
Our fabulous school choir lead by Damien Bowe and accompanied by Anna Bergin were also in attendance, the choir consisted of children from 3rd - 6th class and it was delightful to see how many children gave up their Saturday morning to sing. They did a fantastic job and we were all very impressed with the fabulous music.
After the ceremony, we were treated to tea/coffee and some treats around the Round Tower and even visited the newly renovated Tower and Bean coffee shop.
The excitement didn't stop there, on Tuesday morning 2nd Class treated the whole school to a parade of their beautiful outfits. We went around to all of the classrooms showing off our fineries and even giving some classes a rendition of our song 'This is the Day' and Our First Holy Communion Prayer.
We are all very proud of 2nd Class here in Timahoe N.S., They have worked so hard all year in preparation for their sacraments, they acted with reverence in the church and each child did their job to a high standard on the day. So, a big congratulations to all and I'm sure that everyone had an amazing day afterwards, judging by the great stories that came in to school on Monday morning!
