The Real Heroes
As part of Catholic Schools Week, the boys and girls of 2nd and 6th class were delighted to invite their grandparents into our school to show our appreciation for all that they do.
We began the afternoon with a short prayer service, giving thanks for the love, care and wisdom our grandparents share with us every day. After the prayer, everyone enjoyed a warm cup of tea while playing board games together. There was lots of laughter, chatting and smiling throughout the room.
Emily's grandad showed Mr Mc Evoy two photos from 1958. One was taken on the day construction started on our school (the 'turning of the sod' as it is called) and the other was taken on the first day the school was opened. You can see both photos below. Maybe you can recognise someone?
It was a truly lovely afternoon in TNS, and a special opportunity to celebrate our grandparents – the real heroes in our lives.
